New York Post Page Six is reporting that Golden Globe nominee John Travolta has been axed from the movie version of the TV show Dallas. Travolta was going to play J.R. Ewing.

According to sources close to the project, John was dropped because they have changed directions and instead of the movie being a drama it will be more comedic with Ben Stiller replacing Travolta.

Producers are pushing for a 2009 release. Ben Stiller’s reps have denied the story and said that he was never even contacted about the role.
