Charlton Heston Dies at age 84

The actor, who parted the red sea in the television epic The Ten Commandments when he played Moses, has died at the age of 84.

Academy Award winner Charlton Heston passed away at his Beverly Hills home Saturday night with is wife of 64 years, Lydia, by his side. Heston had announced in 2002 that he was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and was rarely seen in public after that, he won an Academy Award for best actor in 1959’s Ben-Hur.

His family said in a statement,

“Charlton Heston was seen by the world as larger than life, He was known for his chiseled jaw, broad shoulders and resonating voice, and, of course, for the roles he played. Indeed, he committed himself to every role with passion, and pursued every cause with unmatched enthusiasm and integrity.”
