On Thursday’s American Idol, three remaining finalists were selected — as well as a bonus thirteenth singer. Jasmine Murray, 16; Megan Corkrey, 22; and Matt Giraud, 23, were left standing at the end of Thursday’s wild card round.
Judge Simon Cowell surprised all by announcing that 22-year-old fan fave Anoop Desai would get a previously unannounced 13th spot in the next round. (In past seasons, only 12 finalists were picked to move on.) The four join previously picked finalists Kris Allen, Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace, Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert, Scott MacIntyre, Jorge Nunez, Lil Rounds and Michael Sarver. All will start competing next Tuesday, with one singer being eliminated each Wednesday.
In other Idol news: On Wednesday’s results show, Kanye West will perform his hit single, “Heartless,” and former champ Kelly Clarkson will sing her new hit single, “My Life Would Suck Without You.”
