
Michael Sarver was sent home Thursday on American Idol, leaving nine contestants vying for the prize. The 27-year-old oil rig worker from Jasper, Texas performed “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” on Wednesday night’s Motown-themed show. It was the second week in a row he landed in the bottom three. Paula Abdul likened him to an “old-school Vegas lounge act.”
The judges deliberated using their one-time Wild Card, but Simon Cowell ultimately told him: “Michael, you’re going home. Sorry.” (After going off the air, Cowell was the first on the stage to shake Sarver’s hands, an eyewitness tells Usmagazine.com.)
